The White Family

The search for the White Family history is a never-ending process. It is, with great delight, that we present, what information we have obtained through countless sources, our White Family history. Our particular line is displayed here, from Abraham White of the late 18th Century to Mary Ellen White of the late 20th Century. We apologize for not including every 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th cousin in our list, but we do hope that you will be able to link your family tree to ours. There will surely be missing and/or incorrect information throughout the following text, and for that reason, we ask that you contact us with comments about our data. As we said earlier, our history is always being uncovered.

Generation No. 1 - Abraham White

Abraham White's birth and death dates are unknown. Abraham married Charity Boothby on April 4, 1810 at Parsonfield, York County, Maine. Charity was the daughter of Henry Boothby and Anna Rumery. Charity was born March 3, 1792 in Philipbo, York County, Maine and her death date is unknown. Abraham and Charity were the parents of one child - a son.

1. Charles Sidney White, Sr. was born December 12, 1824 in Woolwich, Sagadahoc County, Maine and died at an unknown date in Arkansas. Charles married Hannah B. Leavitt on June 4, 1854 in Conway, Carroll County, New Hampshire.


Generation No. 2 - Charles Sidney White, Sr.

Charles Sidney White, Sr. was born December 12, 1824 in Woolwich, Sagadahoc County, Maine, and died at an unknown date in Arkansas. He married Hannah B. Leavitt June 4, 1854 in Conway, Carroll County, New Hampshire. Hannah was the daughter of Alvin Call Leavitt and Ruth Sanborn. Hannah was born December 25, 1832 in Northfield, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, and died at an unknown date in Arkansas. Charles and Hannah were the parents of nine children - seven boys and two girls.

1. Ebben Almanzo White was born April 6, 1855 in New Hampshire and died December 25, 1925.

2. Abraham Alphonso White was born April 28, 1857 in New Hampshire and died in 1914. Abraham was married to Sophronie A. Duncan.

3. Oren Woodbury White was born December 10, 1860 in New Hampshire and died November 27, 1949. Oren was married to Mary Hubbell on December 19, 1880.

4. Ernest Monroe White was born October 23, 1862 in New Hampshire and died January 3, 1923.

5. Elwin Sidney White was born February 10, 1865 in New Hampshire and his death is unknown. Elwin married Hannah M. Duncan.

6. Belinda Leavitt White was born May 17, 1867 in New Hampshire and died January 30, 1911. Belinda married Gemilidi Columbus Sadler on January 29, 1882.

7. Charles Sidney White, Jr. was born August 12, 1870 in New Hampshire and died December 19, 1946. Charles married Jimmie Lee Bolling.

8. Herbert Leavitt White was born May 30, 1873 in Butler, Kansas and died November 8, 1951 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas. Herbert married Ethel Phillips on August 5, 1896.

9. Edwin Franklin White was born November 11, 1876 in Kansas and died in 1937. Edwin was married to Grettie Shoopman.


Generation No. 3 - Herbert Leavitt White

Herbert Leavitt White was born May 30, 1873 in Butler, Kansas and died November 8, 1951 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas. Herbert married Ethel Phillips August 5, 1896. Ethel was the daughter of Thomas M. Phillips and Mary Ellen Webb. Ethel was born March 21, 1881 in Arkansas and died June 30, 1919. Herbert and Ethel were the parents of three children - two daughters and one son.

1. Mary Ellen White was born December 19, 1904 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died June 19, 1996 in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo County, California. Mary married Wallace Monroe Box, Sr. on July 17, 1920 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.

2. Herbert Franklin White was born April 12, 1910 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died May 20, 1993 in Littlefield, Lamb County, Texas.

3. Edna Lou White's birth and death dates are unknown.


Generation No. 4 - Mary Ellen White

Mary Ellen White was born December 19, 1904 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died June 19, 1996 in Paso Robles, California. Mary married Wallace Monroe Box, Sr. on July 17, 1920 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas. Wallace was the son of James Clayborn Box, Sr. and Elizabeth Clem. Wallace was born September 15, 1902 in Alma, Crawford County, Arkansas and his death date is unknown. Wallace and Mary were the parents of nine children - four boys and five girls.

1. Wallace Monroe Box, Jr. was born July 7, 1921 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died February 25, 2004. Wallace was married to Iva Martin.

2. Ruby Gertrude Box was born July 24, 1923 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died November 21, 2007. Ruby married Emil Francis Lux in 1941 and Robert Leroy Cooper in 1954.

3. Edna Lorene Box was born May 25, 1925 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died February 10, 2005. Edna was married to John Dunn and Ronald Osburn.

4. William Franklin Box, Sr. was born June 27, 1927 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died March 15, 1988 in Oregon. William was married to Mildred Irene Brown.

5. Herbert Jimmie Box was born January 11, 1930 in Lindsay, Garvin County, Oklahoma and died July 13, 1931.

6. Virginia Pauline Box was born May 12, 1932 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas. Virginia was married to J. T. Crutchfield on August 17, 1950 in Yuma, Arizona and Billy Jack Murrell on December 14, 1971 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California.

7. Ola Mae Box was born May 5, 1934 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died April 3, 1990 in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo County, California. Ola was married to Earl Lawrence Lamere.

8. Ruthie Marie Box was born April 13, 1937 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas. Ruthie was married to Marion Leroy Vernoy.

9. Robert Leon Box was born May 5, 1939 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas and died August 19, 2001 in Oildale, California. Robert was married to Donna Bobo.
